Why are chemical engineering design firms these days reluctant to engage in VCM design and patent transfer? Everyone is working on PVC; who will be in charge of VCM?

Only the ethylene method is designed separately, and only a few such designs exist; the market prospects for it are currently unclear. Using the calcium carbide method alone is meaningless.
