What are the reasons for the high gas temperature at the outlet of each stage of the compressor? How should it be handled?
Gas compression does work and releases heat, thereby enhancing cooling and heat exchange
High gas temperature is caused by scaling in the inter-stage water cooler, high inlet water temperature, and insufficient design capacity of the water cooler.
1. The cooling capacity of the water cooler is insufficient. 2. A faulty valve causes high cylinder pressure. 3. The water cooler is clogged (due to scaling, with high turbidity in the cooling water). 4. High intake air temperature: Solution – Replace the valve, replace the water cooler, backwash the water cooler to reduce the inlet temperature.
The poster is asking whether it refers to the exhaust temperature of the compressor or the outlet temperatures of the coolers at each stage. The common reasons for high gas temperature are: 1. High temperature of the cooling water ; Treatment: Lower the circulating water temperature. 2. High press load ; Treatment: Slightly reduce the press load. 3. Blockage in the cooler or cylinder jacket ; Processing: Cleanup.
1. Check whether the air valve is leaking; 2. Excessive system resistance ; 3. The water cooler has poor heat exchange efficiency and needs to be cleaned ;
Reasons for the high temperature of the exhaust gas at each section: 1. Poor cooling effect of the water cooler. When the cooling water supply to the water cooler is interrupted, the water temperature is high, the water volume is insufficient, or the water cooler is heavily scaled, its cooling efficiency will decline significantly, resulting in a high temperature of the gas exiting the water cooler. When this gas enters the next cylinder of the compressor directly, it raises the temperature of the gas entering that cylinder, thereby increasing the load on the water jacket of that cylinder and causing the exit temperature of the gas from that cylinder to rise. 2. The cooling effect of the cylinder water jacket is poor. When the water in the cylinder water jacket is interrupted, the water temperature is high, the water volume is insufficient, or there is excessive scaling in the cylinder water jacket, the compression of the gas approaches an adiabatic process, resulting in a sharp rise in the temperature of the gas after compression. 3. Damaged cylinder valve: When the cylinder valve is damaged, it causes an increase in the amount of residual gas in the cylinder, which in turn leads to an increase in the temperature at the gas outlet. 4. Poor quality of lubricating oil, insufficient amount of oil, or interruption in oil supply. Poor quality of lubricating oil, insufficient amount of oil, or interruptions in its supply can reduce the lubrication effect; this not only increases the risk of bearing damage but also raises the temperature of the gas exiting the compressor due to heat generated from friction. 5. Increased compression ratio: Due to the limited cooling capacity of the water jacket in the original design, when the compression ratio increases, the heat generated by the compressed gas cannot be removed in time, resulting in an increase in the temperature at the compressor outlet. To address the specific reasons for the high gas outlet temperature of the compressor, the following measures are taken respectively: 1. Increase the water volume, lower the water temperature, remove scale, and improve the cooling efficiency of the water cooler. 2. Increase the water volume, lower the water temperature, remove scale, and improve the cooling effect of the cylinder water jacket. 3. Replace the valve. 4. Check the oil supply to ensure the oil quality and supply volume. 5. Adjust the pressure of each section appropriately.
The inter-stage water cooler is severely scaled and needs to be cleaned regularly. Is the lubricant viscosity within the acceptable range?
8# Eternal Ideal: The air valve is leaking
1. Exhaust valve leakage. Treatment: Check the exhaust valve and eliminate the issue. 2. The suction temperature exceeds the specified value. Treatment: Check the process parameters ; Remove the high-temperature machines near the suction inlet. 3. The cooling effect of the cylinders or coolers is poor. Solution: Increase the amount of cooling water to ensure smooth flow of the cooling water
Everyone’s answers were quite comprehensive. I’m not sure whether the original poster is asking why the outlet temperature is high, or why it’s difficult to handle such high temperatures.
