Should the pump used for drawing water from the tap be made of carbon steel, stainless steel, or cast copper? The chloride concentration in tap water is around 0.5 mg/L, and the temperature is around 50 degrees. What material would be suitable for the impeller? Thank you
Tap water is considered drinking water, and therefore it must not contain impurities; thus, it is recommended to use stainless steel. The chloride content is low; 304 can be used as well as 316.
