Entering special characters in multi-line text

When trying to enter the text “Elevation: +/–0.000” in a multi-line text field, I used %%p to enter it; however, after confirming, the multi-line text displayed %%p directly. If you want to get the positive and negative signs, how should it be handled?
I don’t know what input method you use; I use Sogou Pinyin. When using multi-line text, there is a ± symbol in the math symbols section of the on-screen keyboard. Or, as a simpler approach, you can insert the ± symbol in WORD and then copy it into the multi-line text editing box.
It is best to switch to the English input method when entering %%P.
When using an input method other than the English one, it is possible to enter special symbols. For example, if you are using Wubi, select the Wubi input method; then, right-click on the toolbar associated with Wubi and you will be able to choose from a variety of symbols for input.

Also, make sure your font is a standard Roman English font; sometimes strange symbols appear, and this is related to the font settings.
Besides plus and minus signs, degrees Celsius, and diameter, what other special symbols are there?
It is recommended to use the right-click – special symbols option for insertion, which can avoid the above problems
