We started blending in some Dopha crude oil, and this resulted in severe electrodialysis emulsification, difficulty in demulsifying the mixture, and an inability to remove water. This had an impact on the flash tower and the atmospheric pressure tower. Does anyone have experience in processing such materials?
Where does the Dobba crude oil come from? The crude oil we process locally is South Ba crude oil, produced in Angola; the proportion of this crude oil in the mixture is very small. Increasing this proportion will help improve the dehydration situation
The density of Chad crude oil at 15°C is 912.3 kg/m3, with an API value of 21.66. Its acid value is 4.06 mgKOH/g, the residue content is 4.98%, the freezing point is below -15°C, the sulfur content is 0.09%. The viscosity at 50°C is 142.9 mm2/s, the salt content is 4.1 mgNaCl/L, and the water content is 1.0%. Among the metal elements, the contents of nickel and vanadium are 8.7 mg/kg and 0.3 mg/kg respectively; The characteristic factor is 11.8, classifying it as a heavy crude oil with low sulfur and high acidity.
What are the important properties of crude oil that are related to the difficulty in demulsifying it through electrodesalting? I hope fellow sailors can offer some advice?
The asphaltene content in crude oil is high, right! We used to process Esclarant crude oil, which has a high asphaltene content; it couldn’t be processed through catalytic methods due to the lack of coking facilities. As a result, all that remained after processing was sent to other companies for further treatment.
