The large chlorine pump and sulfuric acid separator are contaminated with acid, which indicates that the separator is either too small in design or installed at too low a height. It is recommended to contact the design firm or visit other manufacturers to learn from their experience. The original poster did not specify the size of the chlorine pump, the dimensions of the separator, or its installation conditions, so it’s difficult to determine the exact reason.
Nash pump motor, 45 kW; separator dimensions: φ800*1822; installation height: 2239. Both the inlet and outlet of the pump and separator are DN80. Please advise. Thank you
The design dimensions are a bit small, and the installation height is low as well; I’ll get in touch with the designer to discuss this
Reply to 3# Mengyuan: It seems that separator is just a liquid chlorine cylinder; its diameter is indeed too small. The height is a bit low too. If it is not possible to modify the separator, it is recommended to lower the opening height of the swirl inlet pipe to a position 500 units above the bottom of the separator, so that more space remains for the gas phase. If it is also possible to increase the installation height of the separator, please increase it as much as possible.
The problem is solved! Upon on-site inspection, it was found that the gas entrapment phenomenon occurred because the height of the spiral plate heat exchanger was slightly higher than the level of sulfuric acid in the sulfuric acid separator. This problem was solved by reducing the height of the spiral plate heat exchanger!
I think the acid level in the separator is too high.
It is possible that the outlet pressure of the Nash pump is too high, causing the gas phase to carry away some of the sulfuric acid. Another reason is that the separator is too low; try raising it a bit and see.
