At present, most of the crude oil in the Liaohe Oil Field is heavy oil. How can it be processed in a proper manner to enable its full utilization? I welcome everyone’s suggestions to help me find some approaches!
It is used to produce asphalt, or it can be directly used in coking processes to manufacture fuel oil. It depends mainly on what it is suitable for producing
Personally, I think preprocessing is necessary, as the bitumen from the Liaohe River has a relatively high ash content; thereafter, processes such as viscosity reduction cracking and delayed coking should be carried out! This is a problem assigned by the teacher, and I think it’s quite challenging. I hope to get more advice from experts; it would be even better if there are those from the Liaohe Oil Field!
The key to processing heavy oil actually lies in determining how to handle heavy crude or residue oil. A small amount of diesel is extracted first, and the remainder is processed through delayed coking, residue hydrogenation, or RFCC. Specific experiments and technical-economic analyses are then carried out.
It is better to carry out viscosity reduction cracking first, and then proceed with delayed coking. For specific details, refer to Heavy Oil Processing Technology edited by Cheng Zhiguang.
Personally, I think it’s best to start by studying the properties of heavy oil – what are its characteristics in terms of composition and distillation profile, what processing methods are suitable for it, or which methods can yield products of higher value. If the properties of the heavy oil are poor, it is also necessary to consider how to carry out pretreatment before processing.
