Our company has newly installed a concentration evaporator, and the pipeline connecting it to the condenser is designed with an inlet diameter of DN40. However, the installation site only has pipes with a DN32 diameter; therefore, I used a pipe with a reduced diameter of 40 to make the connection. I wonder if it has any impact? Is there enough water? I’m new here; please give me some guidance
I really want to give you a proper answer to this question, but you haven’t made it clear. Does DN40 refer to the gas inlet of the condenser or to the inlets and outlets for the circulating water? I guess it refers to the inlets and outlets for the circulating water. If the connections on the equipment are DN32 size while the pipes are DN40 size, then using an adapter pipe shouldn’t be a problem. But from what you’ve said, it seems that the connections on the equipment are DN40 size, and if DN32 pipes are used, that won’t work well. In the future, you’ll definitely find something wrong with this setup. It’s better to use DN40 pipes. However, it’s best to calculate the required flow rate first and determine the appropriate pipe diameter. Given that the equipment uses DN40 connections, the amount of circulating water needed should be fairly small; go ahead and do the calculations. Use a flow velocity of 1.5 M/S as a reference.
If it is the standard pipe diameter and the diameter is changed temporarily, it will of course affect the flow rate. If the pressure remains constant, the pipe diameter is proportional to the flow rate, and this can be determined through calculations; therefore, with constant pressure, a reduction in the pipe diameter will inevitably lead to a decrease in the flow rate. You need to calculate the flow rate and pressure before changing this pipe diameter.
