However, if there are unused signal terminals, they should be protected, as otherwise it could lead to the generation of incorrect signals.

If a shutdown is caused by the unit’s own protection system, it is generally recorded in the ESD system. If no records are shown for any shutdown events of the ESD systems, yet the unit shuts down, it must be due to an issue with the electrical system (as faults in the electrical system generally do not leave any records in the unit’s protection system).
