For lightning protection measures in the trough area, the bridge racks surrounding it can be used as lightning receptors: first, the metal bridge racks must be grounded in accordance with the requirements of lightning protection standards. These bridge racks are slightly higher than the top of the troughs, but they are about 10 meters away from the farthest troughs. The protection range should be calculated using the rolling sphere method specified in Appendix 4 of the lightning protection standard GB50057--94 (2000); only areas within this protection range are considered safe.
