I saw posts about steam pressure boosters in a previous phase, but I can’t find them now. Does anyone who is familiar with steam pressure boosting devices know how to introduce them? Our company’s ammonia synthesis system generates around 8 tons of steam at 0.4 MPa as a by-product; this steam can be used for heating in winter, while there are hardly any users in summer, so about 6 tons of steam must be vented each hour. I want to increase the pressure of 0.4MPa steam to 1.1MPa; I’m not sure how to do this What are the costs? (This post is purely a personal effort; I would appreciate any advice from everyone.)

You must be referring to a steam jet pump. Such pumps can be used to increase pressure, but they require a large amount of steam at a pressure greater than 0.4 MPA. For example, if you use medium-pressure steam at 2.4 MPA, it is possible to raise the pressure of steam at 0.4 MPA to 1.1 MPA; however, the resulting steam will still have a pressure lower than 2.4 MPA. In other words, this is a form of downgrading the medium-pressure steam, and a large amount of it is needed. As for whether this approach is economically viable, that’s uncertain. Also, why does your synthesis process produce low-pressure steam at 0.4 MPA? Our synthesis system generates medium-pressure steam at 2.4 MPA. Is it possible to modify the system so that it produces medium-pressure steam instead? I’m not very familiar with your process. If you’re interested, I’d like to get to know you better. There are devices for raising steam pressure; I’ve seen information on this before. The equipment seems to be from a company in the United States, but I’m not sure about its cost-effectiveness

The design pressure of synthetic waste heat boilers is generally above 1.0 MPa, with 2.5 MPa being common; they shouldn’t be capable of producing only 0.4 MPa of steam. If that’s indeed the case, then the overall steam balance of the plant needs to be reconsidered – it’s impossible to waste 6 tons of steam per hour. At 100 yuan per ton, that amounts to over 400,000 yuan per month, which is an enormous waste. This kind of problem isn’t really a problem at all; it can be solved easily
Isn’t there such a compressor? What is the difference between compressing steam and air or CO2?
Steam boosters are used in urea production plants; high-energy steam is required, and excess low-pressure steam can be utilized for cooling. Our company also faces this issue
The steam pressure-raising device actually consumes a significant amount of energy, and the quality of the steam is not necessarily high. It is recommended that the poster use steam at 0.4 MPa for cooling. The benefits are definitely better than those of voltage boosting. Fully replaces the chiller system.
