I’m encountering a lubrication issue with a reciprocating compressor. Since I’m not an expert in mechanical engineering, I don’t quite understand it, so I’m seeking advice. Since the cylinders of oil-free lubrication reciprocating compressors are lubricated without oil, is there also a requirement regarding whether the packing gland of the piston rod should use oil or not?
One oil-free lubrication method I am aware of involves changing the material of the gaskets and piston rings, so that the reciprocating compressor does not suffer damage due to excessive heat generated by metal friction during operation; PTFE can be used as such a material.
Oil-free lubrication generally refers to the lubrication of cylinders without oil, which reduces both the amount of lubricating oil used and the contamination of the process gas; The filler oil should be reduced from a moderate amount to none; in other words, a small amount of lubricating oil should be added when the filler is first installed, but no further oil needs to be added after the running-in period is over. Close attention should be paid to the temperature of the piston rod, and the amount of cooling water used should be increased as appropriate.
