The requirements aren’t high; adding activated carbon will solve the problem!
There are various methods to reduce COD, but the choice must be based on factors such as the actual water quality, volume of water, treatment costs, surrounding environment, and available technical support. 1. Coagulation method: This approach involves the use of coagulants to form flocs in water, which then adsorb the suspended particles and part of the COD present in the water, thereby reducing its level. This method has little effect on soluble COD in water. 2. Biological treatment: If the biochemical ratio in the water is satisfactory, biological treatment can be used for advanced treatment; however, if the biochemical ratio is too poor, this method is not suitable. 3. Oxidation method: Strong oxidants are used to oxidize and remove COD from water. This approach is effective, but it involves high treatment costs and significant investment requirements. 4. Adsorption method: Materials such as activated carbon are used to adsorb COD from water. This method is effective and yields immediate results, but it requires a regeneration device; the treatment cost is high, and it is not suitable for handling large volumes of water. It is only appropriate for small volumes of water where the COD level is not severely elevated. 5. Membrane treatment method: reverse osmosis membranes are used; previously, these membranes were most sensitive to COD, but it is said that current membranes no longer have this issue. 6. This issue needs to be considered based on the actual circumstances. I don’t even know what processing method you’re using or what kind of water you’re dealing with, so how can I give you any advice?

The key is to see how much of the remaining 180 can be biologically treated, adsorbed, or subjected to advanced oxidation; It is more appropriate to figure out the composition of the remaining COD before considering corresponding measures.
For wastewater treatment in our company, the use of SBR technology has reduced the COD level from 450 mg/l to 60 mg/l; sometimes it can even drop to 30 mg/l. l
