Extended meters refer to numerical values of length that can be accumulated continuously, with the calculation not being interrupted by discontinuities in the object. Extended meters can be used to represent the volume of work for individual projects of the same specifications, as well as the total volume of work for similar projects of the same specifications within a larger-scale project. To put it more plainly, take the stair railings as an example – everyone understands what railings are, right? The railings need to curve, and when calculating their length, the unit used is the total extended length in meters. Dia-inch and weld are two ways of expressing the quantity of work in engineering: one uses the total size of the weld seams, while the other uses the length of the pipeline
Simply put, to weld a 1-inch pipe (with an outer diameter of 33.4 mm, per American standards), the welding amount is 1 Dia-inch, or 1 DB; for two welds on such a pipe, it’s 2 Dia-inches. The same applies to welding a 2-inch pipe – the welding amount is also 2 Dia-inches. I think this makes it clearer.
