What is the oxygen content in the gas produced by using high-pressure ammonia water for smokeless coal charging?
This is related to the volume of gas generated by the length of coking time, as well as the pressure of high-pressure ammonia water and the leakage rate. Here, it’s usually around 0.8% when smoke exhaust vehicles are in use
In accordance with the coking safety regulations (GB12710-2008), an electric tar catcher should be equipped with a continuous automatic oxygen content analyzer, which shall be interlocked with the power supply of the electric tar catcher. An automatic alarm is triggered when the oxygen content in the gas exceeds 1% ; Power is automatically cut off when it exceeds 2%. Currently, both top-loading and ramming types of furnaces are equipped with high-pressure ammonia water injection systems, whose main purpose is to effectively address the issue of dust and gas emissions during coal loading. Due to the high amount of dust emissions during coal loading, and while ensuring compliance with operating procedures, the oxygen content in the gas generally does not exceed 1%.
If methanol is present later on, the oxygen content requirement in the gas must be below 0.5%, which is quite stringent
This is related to the pressure of ammonia and the operation of the coke ovens; when high-pressure ammonia is used for coal charging here, the concentration can sometimes reach 1%. After contacting the coke oven operators, we increased the use of high-pressure ammonia in those ovens, and as a result the oxygen content in the gas decreased.
