In my work on projects, I have come across many different types of threads, which has left me quite confused; some pipes use NPT connections, some use G threads, and others use M threads. . . What are the differences between these various thread types? I spent hours searching online, and all the information mentioned was things like pitch and standards, but nothing practical – no indication of when to use which thread standard. . I’m very confused; I often come across pipes with NPT on one side and G on the other. . I don’t understand. Does anyone know? Please help me out; I’d be extremely grateful!
NPT and G are both pipe threads. NPT is the abbreviation for National (American) Pipe Thread; it represents a 60-degree tapered pipe thread that follows American standards and is used in North America. **The relevant standard can be found in GB/T12716-1991. G refers to a 55-degree pipe thread without a threaded seal, and it belongs to the Whitworth thread family. It is mainly due to the different standards used; generally, the same standard should be adopted in unified systems, as mixing different standards is not recommended, as it causes difficulties in maintenance, spare parts supply, procurement, and so on.

Threads with a taper generally require proper sealing. If sealing is not required and only a threaded connection is needed, then a standard thread will suffice. Follow the requirements – remember that everything has its reason
