There are some newly installed electric gate valves at our plant site, and they are leaking internally after being transported by water. For DN300 pipes, could it be that the pipeline wasn’t thoroughly purged, resulting in wear of the sealing surfaces? Yesterday, the manufacturer of electric actuators came to the site to set the shutdown limit, but it had no effect. Let’s analyze together what the reasons are. Thanks first.
This is a common problem with gate valves; the valve manufacturers should address it. If they are unable to solve it, I suggest that they replace the valve body with a new one!
Based on what you’ve described, it could be caused by one or more of the following four reasons: 1. The valve itself has not been closed fully (the closing limit has not been reached). Solution: Identify and eliminate the factors preventing full closure; 2. The medium contains impurities such as rust particles, which cause severe wear of the sealing surfaces during the operation of the gate valve (when it is closed, a wedge-shaped pressure is applied, which essentially exerts force on the sealing surfaces). Solution: Replace the seals or the valve body ; 3. When an electric actuator is used in conjunction with a gate valve, the axial alignment of the electric actuator and that of the gate valve must be precise; any deviation will result in the sealing surface and the valve disc not being able to seal properly. The solution is to adjust the axial alignment (coaxiality) of both the electric actuator and the gate valve, so that they are as aligned as possible ; 4. The valve itself has quality issues; solutions: replace the valve body or the entire valve, or purchase an electric gate valve from another brand. Globe valves are just that!! They can only be used for full open or full closed positions!! It’s difficult to keep them closed in other positions!! Among valves, globe valves are considered inexpensive!
Wear is likely to be the greatest. The others are of substandard quality.
It just got installed, and there was internal leakage right after it was transported; it can’t be a wear issue – saying it’s wear is unreasonable.
After closing it electrically, close it again with the handwheel

Another issue arises when the actuator (electric actuator) is used in conjunction with a gate valve: the axial alignment of the electric actuator and that of the gate valve must be perfect; any deviation will result in the sealing surface and the valve disc not being able to seal properly. The solution is to adjust the axial alignment (coaxiality) of both the electric actuator and the gate valve, so that they are as aligned as possible ; Oil has been introduced; wait until the process conditions are met and then let the manufacturer handle it
It is usually caused by impurities or foreign objects in the valve gate channel, and the issue can be resolved by cleaning it. Otherwise, the quality of the valve is doubtful. . .
