I would like to ask fellow sailors: Is a single optical cable composed of multiple optical fibers? 2 If an optical cable is composed of multiple optical fibers, then as many patch cable interfaces need to be provided at the optical terminal box as there are optical fibers in the cable? And a one-to-one correspondence? 3 Can data be transmitted in only one direction on a single optical fiber? If so, then to achieve full-duplex communication, at least two optical fibers are required?

What was said upstairs is correct; we generally use simplex mode to control the network, with one fiber core for reception and another for transmission, and we need to take into account some margin when installing the fibers. One fiber core and one jumper – I think only those that are quite thick can be called optical cables, like those used in telecommunications; those with 4 or 8 cores are also referred to as optical fibers
