A few days ago, I needed to service the heating pipes; when I opened the heating drain valve, I detected a gas smell. I lit it with a lighter. Where else in the methanol production system using coke oven gas could gas enter the low-pressure steam network?
That’s so dangerous; the person who lit it must be really brave...
Could it be that the upper pipe of the high-pressure water pipe inside the synthesis tower has cracked?
I think I should first consider the source of the steam – whether it is the steam produced by the synthesis tower, or the combustible gases carried by the steam from the stripping tower Conduct non-condensable gas tests on the steam produced by each steam-generating device, and check them one by one.
Thoroughly check which devices use gas and steam for heat exchange; it is likely that a leak in one of the heat exchangers used for gas and steam heat exchange is the cause. It’s too dangerous! ! ! ! !
It’s also possible that it came from the water source! ! Both boiler water and deionized water exchange heat with the converted gas; it’s amazing what the original poster says – there’s a very strong coal smell! ! !
Check the steam condensate for methanol and hydrogen sulfide in order to make a judgment
