Scanning was carried out without the process being properly set up (scanning all night), and it wasn’t discovered until daytime. Some low-pressure traps are clogged; upon disassembly, black viscous oil was found. What other serious consequences could there be (in a coking plant)?
It depends on what the steam is being used for; oil leaking into the steam pipeline is a serious problem
The steam contained oil, contaminating the pipelines that had been purged – all that cleaning was for nothing!
It’s not a big problem; just remove the drain valve at the end of the steam pipeline and clean away the residual oil
Then the only option is to open each end and blow it out clean!
The key is to find the source; I’ve encountered this situation before as well. At that time, every steam point in the entire system was filled with paraffin oil; it was later found that there was a leak inside the steam generator.
It mainly depends on what else the steam is used for. If nothing else, it’s used in the coking unit, so there should be no major problems. Just be careful with the heat tracing pipes, as they are quite thin. However, it is also necessary to identify the root cause promptly to address the leakage issues, and then connect all the steam lines. Stop the steam immediately in areas where oil is present.
This requires that, when scanning the lines, the connection between high voltage and low voltage be closed, and the scanning be done line by line.
