Material selection for liquefied natural gas pumps

One cryopump from an American company that we represent can be used for oxygen, nitrogen, argon, and LNG. The volutes of these pumps have always been made of copper alloys; however, one of our clients has pointed out that the \"General Properties of Liquefied Natural Gas\" state that copper and its alloys are not recommended for use with natural gas, with stainless steel being the preferred material. So I think we should discuss the advantages and disadvantages of using copper alloys and stainless steel for volutes
Those LNG cryopumps are all placed in pump chambers; if they are made of steel instead of copper, could sparks be generated in case there is a problem with the pumps under special circumstances? All the tools used in our LNG refueling stations are copper tools; they are prone to damage and expensive. But to prevent explosions and avoid sparks. I think that’s what the American manufacturer you represent thinks as well.
Reply to 1# luoheng116: At my previous workplace, the liquefied gas equipment was all made of stainless steel, specifically from Sulzer in Dalian. There are also a few barrel pump units, all made of stainless steel. Copper tools are used for installation and removal. Is copper less resistant to erosion?
