Class A: Three major turbine units, ammonia compressors, synthesis towers, converter furnaces, and waste heat boilers. Class B: Other moving equipment. Class C: Other stationary equipment. Is this classification appropriate? I would appreciate your advice, thank you.
There should be standards and regulations to follow for this, right? The Class A equipment in our factory includes the units and the feed pumps for the installations
This division is appropriate. There is a classification into A and B categories, as well as other classifications such as workshop level, branch factory level, and company level. Classified by the equipment’s importance and level of risk. Also, I’m not sure how it’s handled where you are; if things are classified into Category A, then the authority in charge of supervision is usually your superior department, and in some places, the issuance of work orders also requires approval from that superior department.
In my opinion, classification is simply about assigning a name to something based on its characteristics according to certain rules! However, it has many features, including the operating environment, control units, mechanical properties, transmission methods, size, operation method, pressure rating, process sections, and so on. So any way of categorizing them is correct; it’s just a matter of using descriptive language to summarize a large number of devices!

Static equipment and rotating equipment. Static equipment: liquefied gas storage tanks, various distillation towers, various vertical or horizontal storage tanks, various heat exchangers. Rotating equipment: water pumps, gearboxes, mixers, fans.
