While the turbine was in operation, it was found that there was a small amount of water in the oil tank of its oil supply system. The water at the bottom of the tank was drained, and after operating for a few more days, normal conditions were restored. It can be said that there is no problem with the oil cooler; can anyone explain what caused this?
It might be water formed by the condensation of vapor from the mechanical seal.
It’s possible that the labyrinth seal inside the engine block is damaged, allowing air to enter the oil
It is because the high steam pressure at the shaft seal can penetrate into the oil
Steam leaking from the shaft seal enters the bearing system and then gets into the lubricating oil
The shaft seal steam leaks into the lubricating oil tanks at both ends, and the lubricating oil enters the tanks via the return oil pipes.
1. Is the pump at the gas station operating properly? 2. Open the fuel tank to check for any air trapped inside. 3. Is the quality of the fuel poor, containing moisture?
Our facility has experienced leaks in the oil cooler, which allowed water to enter the fuel tank. So this cannot be completely ruled out.
It must be water vapor condensation; it happens frequently in our factory as well. Add a transparent oil catch can to him, and regularly check for water accumulation; if any is present, drain it. Or a oil-gas lubrication system can be used. Or nitrogen-seal the bearing housing.
1 If it is not a turbine-driven compressor, the possibility of turbine seal steam entering the lubricating oil return line and thus reaching the oil tank can be ruled out; 2. For motor-driven turbines, conduct an oil filling analysis to check whether all parameters of the new oil are within acceptable limits. If there are no issues with adding lubricating oil, then check whether the oil cooler is leaking ; 3 If the oil cooler is not leaking, check whether the oil tank drain fog fan is operating properly during operation, whether the oil tank is tightly sealed, and whether air leaks in when a negative pressure is created in the oil tank ;
Then it’s likely that the condensate from the turbine air seal has entered the oil
