A massive metal deposit discovered in Anhui, with resource value exceeding 200 billion yuan – Xinhua News Agency, Hefei, June 2 (Reporter: Zhan Tingting). Reporters learned on the 2nd from the Anhui Provincial Bureau of Geology and Mineral Exploration that experts from the 313 Geological Team of the Anhui Geological Bureau have officially announced that the molybdenum deposit in Shapingou, Guanmiao Township, Jinzhai County, has reserves of over 500,000 tons, and its resource value exceeds 200 billion yuan. This is the only large-scale metal deposit discovered so far in Anhui, putting an end to the history of no major metal deposits existing in the Anhui part of the Dabie Mountains. Jinzhai County is located at the northern foot of the Dabie Mountains, within the Qinling-Dabie Mountain metallogenic belt. It has become a popular area for mineral exploration in China in recent years; provinces such as Shaanxi and Henan have discovered medium to large-scale deposits of lead, zinc, gold, cobalt, molybdenum, and other minerals in this metallogenic belt. After more than 3 years of exploration, the 313 Geological Team determined that the Shapingou molybdenum deposit holds reserves of over 500,000 tons, with a grade of 17 parts per 10,000. It constitutes a particularly large and rich deposit of the porphyry type, making it the largest metal deposit in Anhui Province. At present, the Shapinggou molybdenum mine is still in the detailed exploration phase. The geological authorities in Anhui Province will drill 22 boreholes this year, covering a total depth of 32,400 meters, and will submit a detailed exploration report in June 2011. In addition, the Anhui Provincial Bureau of Geology and Mines has signed agreements with large mining enterprises to jointly develop the Shapingou molybdenum mine. Based on a production scale of 10 million tons of ore and 17,000 tons of molybdenum metal per year, the annual output value will be around 5 billion yuan. Molybdenum is a rare metal; adding it can enhance the strength, toughness, heat resistance, and corrosion resistance of various alloy steels. It is widely used in industries such as metallurgy, machinery, chemicals, military, and aerospace.
This is good news. This can help alleviate the shortage of molybdenum resources in our country.
Don’t worry about artillery attacks; it reminds me of that exciting news about a huge oil field, which turned out to be nothing after all
May it drive economic development! Wish our motherland prosperity!
