In actual production, I have never seen valves installed on the inlet and outlet pipelines of air coolers. However, if one of the groups in an air cooler starts to leak, it is impossible to carry out repairs without shutting down the system. I wonder whether it is possible to install valves during the design phase to isolate that particular group for repair purposes
I don’t understand what the poster means by saying there is no valve at the inlet of the air cooler. The air-cooling inlets designed by our institute all come with valves.
Some older units lack isolation valves at their air-cooling inlet and outlet connections when connected in parallel; as a result, if one of the air-cooling units fails or develops a leak, it cannot be isolated, forcing the plant to shut down for repairs. The design firm can be consulted to prepare revised designs that include isolation valves.
From a design perspective, wherever shutdown is not necessary due to problems with the air cooler, an inlet isolation valve should be installed. Many of our company’s air coolers are equipped with such valves, and in many cases, given the winter temperatures, it is possible to bypass the air cooler and use direct feed lines instead.
Our unit doesn’t have isolation valves, so it’s not possible to carry out maintenance at the moment; maintenance can only be done after shutting down the operation!

Our air cooler main pipe is not equipped with valves; valves are available at the inlets and outlets of the branch pipes, allowing them to be isolated for maintenance.
