Our plant’s gas tank uses a hanging-ring type water seal, but we lack technical documentation on this topic. I’m wondering if anyone has relevant information that they could share with me. What interests me most is the height of the water seal, as we encountered problems during pressure testing. The maximum pressure reached during testing was 3000 Pa, while the pressure required to introduce air into the tank was around 7000 Pa. I’m not sure whether this type of water seal can ensure safe operation
The pressure at the inlet of the gas tank must be higher than the pressure inside the tank. In our factory, the pressure at the inlet of the gas tank is 8 kPa, while the pressure at the outlet is only 2 kPa. Moreover, a water seal is merely a protective measure and cannot be used as a valve.

There is a partition inside the water seal. The distance from the bottom of the partition to the bottom of the water seal is 300 mm. A large pressure difference may be caused by water not being completely drained from the water seal, as well as by debris at the bottom of the water seal, which reduces the distance between the partitions and creates resistance. The imported valve is not fully open.
