Some company owners always tell their employees, \"Just give me the results; I don’t care about the process.\" Fellow netizens, let’s discuss whether this is correct
For those who actually do the work, both the results and the process are equally important; without a process, there can be no results. But for leaders, only the results matter. Different positions require different considerations, yet these considerations do not conflict with each other
Leaders like to base their decisions on results.
Angle determines the field of view! Thought determines the approach!
Hehe, in recent years, many bosses have taken MBA management courses; I haven’t learned anything else, but I’ve learned this phrase. It’s actually a classic line from MBA programs, but it’s not taken literally! I believe they dozed off during the lecture, and that’s why they only heard this one sentence. They thought it would help establish the boss’s authority, and it seemed simple and clear to them; that’s why they got used to saying it! A good boss doesn’t need to know the results! All one needs to do is assign tasks to those who are supposed to carry them out, without having to follow up on the results. That shouldn’t be the boss’s responsibility; the boss only needs to keep a close eye on things, manage the staff, and determine the direction of the company. This is why I really dislike the daily habits of some small business owners – it seems like they worry about everything! ! ! So, let me ask: what are those senior executives he hires at high salaries for? Are they merely symbolic figures, existing only to fill out the company’s organizational structure? I’m getting a bit off-topic here; to summarize: bosses who only care about the results and not the process do not take their employees’ hard work seriously – they haven’t grasped the essence of an MBA!
From the boss’s perspective, it’s quite normal. For him, there is only one goal: to achieve results. No matter how good the process may be, it’s useless if results aren’t achieved. As employees, it’s we who create the process, but the results belong to someone else. Different positions lead to different perspectives
Our boss says that the process is important, but the outcome is even more important; you can’t be satisfied merely with having done something – you need to see what the results of that action are
Process control is one of the eight principles of the ISO9001 system. If there are no issues with the processes, then there will naturally be no problems with the results. Focusing only on the results while ignoring the processes is not the hallmark of an excellent manager. Of course, the boss doesn’t necessarily need to manage the day-to-day tasks; otherwise, all the managers under him would lose their jobs.
From a leadership perspective, only the results matter. In my opinion, the process and the outcome are interdependent and inseparable; without a good process, how can the outcome be guaranteed?
It’s not wrong for a leader to focus only on the results and not on the process, as they cannot see the process nor is it necessary for them to do so. However, from the perspective of the leadership system, it is essential to pay attention to the process, as it serves as a means to determine whether an employee is competent.
