What is the head on an air compressor?

The parts that seal both ends of the air compressor cooler are called the upper head and the lower head, respectively.

Reply to 1# monkeyyd: Didn’t you mean the end cover of the cylinder? Sometimes, the terms used by some manufacturers differ from the professional terminology; for example, “dao” is what they call it, while in our professional field we usually refer to it as “si”.
Do you mean the head on the air compressor as the head on the inter-stage cooler?
In the field of equipment engineering, what does \"head\" refer to? It’s not specifically about air compressors.
Isn’t the end cap something on the container, at both ends?
