The brine concentration process in our company’s chlor-alkali project has just started operating on a full scale; it has now been in operation for 3 months. Initially, all parameters related to temperature were normal and everything ran smoothly. However, after 3 months, various problems began to arise – more and more heat is required to carry out the process. The designed operating temperature for the evaporator is 138°, but we now need to reach 158° in order to evaporate the brine from 210 g/l to a concentration of over 290 g/l. What could be the reason for this? Please help analyze it Thank you? ? ? 1. Three falling film evaporators 2. There are no issues with pipe scaling, vacuum level, steam pressure, or DCS control; the tests also show no problems. Thank you!
The pipes were scaled; we have encountered this situation as well. After removing the evaporator and cleaning its tubes, the temperature dropped by 10 degrees at the same salt concentration.
