Questions about deluge valves

What is a deluge valve used for? What is the working principle? Is there any information or introduction available on rainwater valves?
LZ is referring to the spray valve, right? Is it for firefighting?

It’s a pity there are no corresponding pictures in the original post. I still don’t quite understand some of the principles mentioned.
