How many hours can a distillation-type solid alkali dryer generally last (for an annual PVC production of 200,000 tons)? Under what circumstances needs the solid alkali to be replaced, and how can it be determined that the solid alkali has run out? Let’s all come and discuss it together~! ~
This depends on the actual circumstances; some machines have a higher moisture content, while others are better controlled and thus have less moisture. Some even do not require an alkali solidifier dryer, such as in our factory. Therefore, the amount of solid alkali used also depends on the operating conditions of the process. However, manufacturers that have desiccators can mention the approximate usage time, and we can keep in communication.
It mainly depends on the volume of the solid alkali dryer and the moisture content of the monomer; if 1–2 shifts pass without any liquid alkali being discharged from the drainage port of the solid alkali dryer, it’s time to replace it
It takes about 2 months to run out; sometimes it’s less than 2 months. When disposing of the residual liquid from the solid alkali, observing through the viewing window shows that there is usually a lot of white foam. When the solid alkali is almost used up, the residual liquid becomes dirtier – it tends to be yellow at that point, and sometimes even black. It’s necessary to analyze each situation individually, but by paying attention to the amount of residual liquid discharged, one can tell when the solid alkali has run out. Normally, there is a somewhat larger amount of residual liquid; as the solid alkali approaches exhaustion, the amount of residual liquid discharged decreases significantly, and not much vinyl chloride can be processed before the waste alkali tank is full. It is possible to compare and evaluate by detecting changes in the water content within the monomer!
We also mainly observe through the scope, but there are VCM measurement data for each shift. You can tell by looking at the changes in water content
The moisture content of the monomer is very important! Proper drainage in front of the machine must be ensured; strict control will extend the effective lifespan of the solid alkali
No white foam is discharged; it’s basically a single stream of liquid, or the sound of gas flowing along with the discharged water~~
The dehydration effect of solid alkali is not satisfactory; firstly, the degree of dehydration is insufficient (only around 300–500 mg/m³); Secondly, it can easily carry alkali particles into the product monomers, thereby having an adverse effect on the quality of the polyvinyl chloride resin ; Third, alkali is required for consumption and must be replaced regularly. Therefore, the solid-alkali process is being phased out gradually, to be replaced by processes such as coalescer dehydration, cyclone dehydration, and temperature-controlled dehydration.
