It must be said that the Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics has successfully applied structured catalysts to the deoxygenation and liquefaction of coalbed methane, thereby achieving high throughput and low pressure drop. The operating space velocity reached 40,000–80,000 h-1, a value that is unmatched by conventional packed beds (whose space velocity is usually only around 3,000 h-1). By employing a cyclic process and controlling the oxygen concentration at the reactor inlet, it was possible to keep the reaction temperature below 650°C, thereby suppressing the occurrence of side reactions. The oxygen concentration in the product gas was only around 0.2%, which far exceeds the requirement for subsequent pressure liquefaction (below 0.5%), while the methane yield was close to the theoretical value. It is worth noting that under operating conditions of an air velocity of 40,000 h-1, the pressure drop across the entire catalyst bed was only 2 Kpa, thereby achieving truly low-energy consumption operation. To date, the catalyst has withstood over 3,000 hours of use, and it is believed that its operational life can exceed 2 years. In October 2009, this technology successfully passed the technical evaluation organized by the Liaoning Provincial Department of Science and Technology, with the evaluation result rated as “internationally leading”! This modified technology represents the first time in the world that the concept of a holistic catalyst system has been applied to the deoxygenation process of coalbed methane, showing great innovation. It can truly be said to have brought honor to our country’s catalysis field! Currently, many companies at home and abroad have shown great interest in this technology, and collaborations are being established one after another. It is hoped that through this, our country’s innovation capabilities will also gain international recognition; what they cannot do or conceive of, we can! ! :victory:
Congratulations to Dahuaxian Institute – its strength is truly remarkable!
The deoxygenation of coalbed methane must be a project carried out by Wang Shudong from the Dahuaxing Research Institute. I don’t know where pilot testing for this project was carried out.
This post was last edited by Xiao Kuitu on 2010-6-12 at 08:39. There is also a coalbed methane deoxygenation project at the Southwest Plant; the pilot tests have been completed, and work is now underway on preparing the process documentation for an industrial plant with a capacity of 10,000 tons per year. The achievements made by the research institute are worthy of recognition, but this attitude is indeed uncomfortable.
It seems they carried out industrial pilot tests at Yangmei Group
Hehe, do you all think there’s something wrong with my tone? I’m sorry; I was just a bit emotional. I wasn’t aware that there are rules regarding the tone of posts in this forum. Hehe, if I’ve offended anyone, I’ll make sure to correct it next time. As a supplementary note, we have already completed the process packages for capacities in the tens of thousands of cubic meters range, and several pre-feasibility studies for investors have also been finished – this is the current progress. I hope to have the opportunity to work with all of you to make further contributions to our country’s coalbed methane industry!
In this regard, domestic technology truly deserves substantial investment in research and development as well as promotion; in the past, it was only known that China Gas Company possessed relevant technology.
I wonder whether the carrier for the catalyst in the entire mechanism is metal or ceramic
How far is pilot-scale production from industrialization?
