In practice, the two flow streams exchange heat within the heat exchanger; the amount of heat released by the hot stream must be greater than the amount of heat absorbed by the cold stream, as the efficiency of a heat exchanger cannot be 1. But when we use a simplified method in Aspen Plus to describe this situation, how should we specify its efficiency? I searched for a long time but couldn’t find it. Simply put, it is about knowing the status of the two flow streams entering and leaving the heat exchanger, and using a simplified heat exchanger model to simulate it, while determining where the efficiency of the heat exchanger should be specified.
I checked, and when using HeatX to select a shortcut, there is no corresponding option for heat transfer efficiency in the settings for the heat exchanger. However, it is possible to specify parameters such as the temperature difference between the incoming hot stream and the outgoing cold stream, the temperatures of the streams, and the heat load of the heat exchanger. Could it be that by entering certain values, the heat efficiency can be calculated manually after the operation is completed?
