Additionally, can you determine whether the sulfur seal is blocked by checking whether sulfur is flowing out through the sulfur seal observation port? If the sulfur seal is blocked, the sulfur seal inlet valve can be closed, and then nitrogen can be used to purge the side of the flow cell. If it cannot be blown clear, the sulfur seal will have to be lifted out for handling.

It is possible to determine whether the sulfur seal is blocked by checking whether liquid sulfur flows out from the sampling package; if no liquid sulfur flows out, first close the jacket valve at the sulfur cooler, then purge the side of the liquid flow chamber with nitrogen or steam. When the passage is cleared, liquid sulfur will spray out from the sampling package – be sure to pay attention to personnel safety! Sulfur blockages must be detected and addressed promptly.

This can be determined by checking the pressure at the burner tip, and the issue can be resolved by cleaning the filter of the sulfur seal If there is anything still unclear, I hope to continue discussing it with LZ!

If the sulfur seal device becomes clogged, the system pressure will not increase at first; only when an excessive amount of liquid sulfur accumulates in the head of the gas-gas heat exchanger or the condenser head will it affect the system pressure. 1) You can start by releasing sulfur from each discharge outlet to check for blockages. Once a blockage is identified, remove the top part of the sulfur sealer to see if the filter inside is clogged due to too much dirt; if so, cleaning the filter will resolve the issue – 90% of blockages are caused by dirty filters. 2) If the filter screen is not dirty, check whether the liquid sulfur line is blocked (we don’t have a viewing window, so we can only judge based on the flow rate of the liquid sulfur). 3) If there’s no problem with the liquid sulfur line, then it’s likely due to too much dirt at the bottom of the sulfur seal device; it could also be that water accumulated at the bottom of the vapor jacket of the sulfur seal device causes condensation there. It is recommended that you start by checking the vapor jacket – these are the most common issues we encounter here: water accumulation in the jacket and clogged filter screens. 4) It was ultimately determined that the sulfur sealer was clogged due to excessive dirt. (The methods for checking this include ensuring that the liquid sulfur line ahead of the sulfur sealer is unobstructed, that there are no debris in the filter screen, that the liquid sulfur inside the large filter behind the sulfur sealer does not flow, and that the steam in the jacket is functioning properly.) One can first use air or nitrogen to apply pressure to the sulfur sealer, thereby blowing the dirt into the liquid sulfur tank. In our case, it is necessary to connect a temporary air line; if this approach does not work, then the issue will have to be addressed by other means. It’s so troublesome; it’s best not to resort to the last resort.
The best way to prevent blockage of the liquid sulfur seal is to use steam heating to prevent the liquid sulfur from solidifying as its temperature drops. Therefore, if the liquid sulfur seal becomes blocked, it is sufficient to check whether the liquid sulfur pipeline and the steam tracing for the liquid sulfur seal are functioning properly; by raising the temperature of the liquid sulfur, the pipeline will no longer be blocked.
