I would like to ask what the maximum capacity of a single distillation unit is at present, and the same for synthesis units. To build a project for 600,000 tons of olefins and 1.8 million tons of methanol, what should be the selection for the corresponding plants, and which technologies can be considered? Methanol from coal, thank you!
There is currently no plant capable of producing 1.8 million tons of methanol; the largest single-unit capacity in the country is 600,000 tons. I suggest building two plants with a capacity of 600,000 tons each. The technologies used by foreign companies such as Lurgi and Topsoe are quite good. Ningxia Coal has already built a plant with a capacity of 600,000 tons; domestically, the technology comes from East China University of Science and Technology, and the maximum capacity for a single plant is 250,000 tons. Henan Longyu has two synthesis towers, each with a capacity of 250,000 tons, resulting in an overall capacity of 500,000 tons
The maximum capacity for distillation using three towers has now reached 1 million tons; it is expected to come online this year. For synthesis, a single tower with a capacity of 1 million tons has been implemented, while the use of two towers in series or in parallel allows for a capacity of 1.8 million tons, which is also expected to be put into operation this year. Distillation processes using five towers or four towers with double-effect systems can reportedly achieve a capacity of 1.8 million tons. Additionally, for a project to produce 600,000 tons of olefins, it is not necessary to have a distillation capacity of 1.8 million tons; it is appropriate to use crude alcohol as the feedstock.
