Hello, everyone! My company currently needs to filter a high-viscosity product that contains impurities such as black residue and salts; ordinary filter cartridges become clogged after being used for a while, resulting in slow filtration. Regular cleaning doesn’t solve the problem either, and it requires a lot of effort. For the parameters, I can only provide the viscosity: 20 mPa.s at 100 degrees. I’m not sure about the rest. It was originally 2 microns. What kind of filter should be used?
It’s not clear whether online or offline filtering is used; if it’s offline filtering, a high-frequency vibrating screen could be considered.
In your case, you need to install two filters and switch between them for flushing.
I’ve seen a steam condensate filtration system used abroad; it seems to employ a switching + backwashing process. Since your fluid has a relatively high viscosity, I’m not sure if that approach can be applied here

If your company is willing to invest a relatively larger amount of money in equipment compared to those using filter rods, I recommend using filter cartridges made of stainless steel; I can assure you that the results will be quite satisfactory! Actually, the cost isn’t that high either; the filters aren’t expensive, it’s just that the filter elements might be a bit pricey. But if stainless steel filter elements are used, they don’t need to be replaced for at least 2 years!
