The issue of recovering the wash mother liquor from the PTA refining stage

At Xianglu Petrochemical, it was learned that the plant has a metal recovery system installed in its refining section; this system seems capable of removing all the metals from the washed mother liquor, thereby reducing the metal content in such liquor and decreasing the burden of metal treatment in the wastewater tanks. I would like to ask fellow sailors: has anyone heard of this set of equipment? What’s his evaluation? If metal can really be removed, would that be helpful for water recycling at the back end? Is it possible to reuse such water directly?
Such a process has been around for several years; it involves membrane filtration plus ion exchange, so that the treated water meets the standards for reuse
But I heard that the water volume in this section is very high; could there be problems using membrane filtration? And could the COD in this section clog the membrane?
It seems theoretically feasible, but the amount of mother solid that can be recovered is indeed large; is the return on investment not very poor then? Is it economical?
An automatic backwashing mode has been added, which enables automatic switching to washing as needed; the membranes are divided into metal membranes (mainly from the United States) and ceramic membranes (with Nanjing University of Technology being a major producer in China). The investment is still quite large.
Xianglu’s system has been in use for almost 2 years now! I heard it’s very stable~ The volume of water in the aqueous mother liquor is also very high, at least 350 Mt/hr – that’s really a huge amount! !
