Dear colleagues: When purging certain gas pipelines, pressure retention and venting methods are used for explosive purging. The standards specify that compressed air at a pressure of 6–8 kilograms should be used to ensure that the flow velocity in the pipeline is at least 20 m/s. Please discuss among yourselves the relationship between the pressure applied to retain the pressure in the pipeline and the flow velocity during explosive purging. For example, in a DN100 pipeline, if a pressure of 6 kilograms is applied, what will be the flow velocity immediately after an explosive purge, and how long can this flow velocity be maintained before it drops to 20 m/s?

Piping purging is quite simple – just check the chemical process manual. The key question is to what extent purification is required: should it be done to the point where there’s no dust left, or should weld slag and metal debris also be removed? I just carried out piping purging for an air model component today, and in practice I found it impossible to eliminate all dust from the pipes. So I used folic acid for cleaning; however, I won’t know the results until tomorrow. Another piece of advice is to pre-treat the pipes before bending them. I’m still exploring this topic, and I hope everyone can discuss it together
