My company has two railway loading lines, and for moving carriages on these lines, winches are used to pull them in both directions. I saw in the plan provided by the design institute that four sets of such winches are required; I don’t think that’s correct. In my opinion, one set of winches per loading line should be sufficient to allow carriage movement in both directions. So, how many winches are actually needed? Please advise, experts
Under normal circumstances, the train locomotive pushes the tank car to one end of the railway line, then detaches itself from the middle of the tank car, and pushes the other half to the other end of the railway line; within the range of operation of the train winch, loading is carried out separately at each location. Once all loading is complete, the locomotive pulls the tank car away from the loading area. Based on the situation with 56-car or 48-car tank cars, if a shunting winch capable of pulling 28 fully loaded tank cars is purchased, then just two winches will be sufficient. Generally, these winches are installed at the top of the railway track, and they are used to push the cars outward from that position during loading. However, winches are quite expensive; they are mostly used in the coal and power industries, and their price is around 600,000 yuan. It has not yet been officially put into use in the oil loading and unloading area. That’s all!
