I work for a state-owned enterprise and would like to get a raise; it’s very necessary to obtain a professional title. The English test for professional titles is divided into three categories: science and engineering, general, and health, with each category having three levels: A, B, and C. The differences among the ABC levels are as follows: The National Professional and Technical Personnel English Proficiency Test focuses on assessing the test takers’ reading comprehension skills. The overall evaluation goal for the exam is that candidates applying for level A should be able to complete a reading task of around 3,000 words within 2 hours, and understand the content of the materials read correctly ； Those applying for level B should complete a reading task of around 2,600 words within 2 hours and be able to correctly understand the content of the material read ； Those applying for Level C should complete a reading task of around 2,200 words within 2 hours and be able to correctly understand the content of the material read. To achieve the above objectives, the exam sets the following requirements for candidates’ vocabulary, grammar knowledge, and reading comprehension skills: The vocabulary and phrases used in the exam are primarily drawn from the glossary attached to this syllabus. Candidates applying for different levels are required to have varying vocabularies: 1. Those applying for Level A should be familiar with around 6,000 words as well as a certain number of phrases ； 2. Those applying for Level B should be familiar with around 5,000 words and a certain number of phrases ； 3.
