What is the relationship between the nominal diameter of the pipe and the diameter of the valve opening? It would be great to have a comparison table; feel free to post one

The nominal value is the same; sometimes the indicated dimensions vary. For example, for a pipe with a diameter of 108, the diameter of the corresponding valve should be DN100. The number 108 refers to the outer diameter of the pipe
As long as everything is expressed in terms of *path coefficients, they should be the same. However, the nominal diameter and the internal bore diameter should be different; the internal bore diameter can be larger or smaller than the nominal diameter.

I think what the original poster is asking about might be the principle of reducing diameter! For example, for a DN500 pipe, the inner diameter is 508 minus 2 times the wall thickness; the minimum inner diameter of a valve can be 486. This rule is specified in the valve design manuals, and it varies depending on the structure, as well as being related to the pressure drop inherent in the valve itself!
The inner diameter in our area is the same as the valve port diameter!

This is because the design of pipelines, their diameter, connection methods, and material composition are all very complex aspects. Let me use the example of that guy’s 100. DN100 is the nominal diameter, while 108 represents the actual outer diameter for Standard Series B. However, it would be a mistake to purchase a pipe with a diameter of 108 if you think 100 is sufficient; the outer diameter for Standard Series A is 114, which corresponds to the American standard. If your pipeline design follows the national standard Series B, then the corresponding flanges, fittings, and other pipeline accessories must also comply with these specifications. In addition, the connection method plays a role as well: for a diameter of 100, flange connections are used, so flanges and flanged valves are required; if threaded connections are used, then threads and threaded valves are necessary. Pressure: If the design pressure for your system is 16 kilograms, then the valves and flanges used must also be capable of withstanding that pressure; otherwise, the diameter and number of holes will not match, making it impossible to make a proper connection.
