What is the difference between polymer materials and chemical engineering? Recently, a school was recruiting candidates with a degree in polymer materials; I have a degree in chemical engineering – I wonder if I will be considered

Reply to 1# qingfeng_1983: Polymer chemistry focuses on polymer synthesis and polymerization process engineering, while polymer materials science focuses on processing and molding. In a pure polymer materials program, candidates with expertise in polymer chemistry will not be accepted.

The field of chemical engineering has a broader scope, I guess. If a company is looking to hire people for polymer research and development, those from the chemical industry may not be well-suited for the role. If one works in the field of synthetic polymer materials, they will definitely be capable of handling it. In the field of chemistry, they are good at chemical production.
