If the medium inside the centrifugal compressor has a molecular weight much higher than the designed value, will this affect the lifespan of the dry gas seal? If there is an impact, is there a difference between the driven side (high voltage) and the undriven side (low voltage)? Why?
A relatively large mass mainly affects the couplings and driving equipment, with virtually no impact on the gland seal. The lifespan of the liver qi seal is primarily determined by the impurities present in the medium, the quality of the purge gas, the precision of the purge gas filter, and the design of the purge system. Moreover, the dry gas seal is generally located outside the balance disk on the low-pressure side of the equipment. Therefore, after pressure balance is achieved, there will be no difference in the pressures on both sides.
The molecular weight of the medium has essentially no effect on the service life of dry gas seals, but it does affect the leakage rate.
