Many companies organize safety knowledge competitions, and my company holds one as well; I am the one who creates the questions. However, I think the fundamental improvement in employees’ safety awareness is rather limited. What do you all, fellow sailors, think?
It is just a means; as for the improvement each individual experiences, it varies from person to person – some see greater improvements while others see smaller ones. As long as there is some improvement, that’s good.
There are various forms of safety education, and it’s always better to learn than not to learn^_^ We organized workshops to watch DVDs on accidents resulting from violations of safety rules, as well as DVDs related to the Safety Production Month, such as those titled “The Cost of Blood”, “Calls from Tears”, and “Safe Development: Prevention First”; Books on safety management were provided to team leaders, safety officers, and workshop supervisors respectively ; Participated in the “Safety Production Month Consultation Day” event ; Organized practical emergency rescue drills and more ; I wasn’t idle this month during Safety Production Month, haha
In addition to enabling employees to acquire certain safety knowledge, safety knowledge competitions are more importantly designed to raise their awareness of safety and make them understand its importance. The implementation of the Safety Production Month campaign, along with frequent safety inspections, audits, supervision, and meetings at all levels, is all aimed at making companies aware of the significance of safety and creating a sense of pressure to carry out their tasks properly. This pressure then turns into motivation to do a good job in safety matters. Thus, the ultimate goal is still to strengthen safety awareness. Therefore, when carrying out safety management tasks, we give top priority to enhancing safety awareness; with proper mindset, there will be proper behavior, leading to positive results in the end.
My company also organized such competitions, but the organization was poor; the purpose of these competitions changed – they became purely about competing, rather than using them as a means to learn or improve in some other way. People could memorize the questions from the question bank word for word, but they were completely lost when faced with variations of those questions. Moreover, after a question was completed and a score was given during the competition, the answers weren’t even disclosed, let alone any explanations. It seems that many spectators only paid attention to who won, without even knowing what the questions were or what insights they could provide.
Constant vigilance is necessary when it comes to safe production. Holding safety competitions is just one method; in my opinion, it’s best to organize competitions involving all employees
The problems mentioned by HAIYOU on the 5th floor are quite common; in other words, it doesn’t serve any purpose of actual learning – it’s simply a way to achieve rankings in competitions, giving those who seek fame and fortune a chance.
Safety knowledge competitions play a significant role in raising employees’ awareness of safety. To achieve good results in such competitions, it is necessary to have a solid grasp of safety knowledge; with appropriate guidance from managers, excellent outcomes can be achieved.
How should I put it? In my view, this is like treating an illness: when you have a disease with symptoms, you take some medicine today and feel better, then you stop taking it; when the symptoms return, you take some more medicine, and even though you feel better again, you still don’t take it. As a result of this over a long period of time, this medication is of no use at all for you or for this disease; resistance has developed. You only have one chance to eat it properly and cure it completely. That’s useful. Let’s hold a safety knowledge competition this year, another one tomorrow, and another one the year after that. Well, every year at this time, people do remember that there is something called \"Safety Production Month\". But what about outside this period? I remember a joke, but it makes a lot of sense. “If there are strict measures, it means there must also be cases where those measures aren’t enforced. Similarly, if safety in production is ensured every day, then why is there a need to designate a special month for it? There is also a saying: \"The more honest officials there are in an era, the more corrupt that era is!\" ”It’s a profound truth; think about it carefully and you’ll understand why.
Improving employees’ awareness of safety management cannot be achieved overnight; it is a long-term and significant task. A single safety knowledge competition is not enough to raise employees’ awareness of safety to a high level. Its role is merely to remind employees not to neglect safety, to plant the seed of \"safety\" in their minds, or to nurture those whose seeds have already been planted, so that employees gradually begin to pay attention to safety matters!
Safety knowledge competitions represent both \"a method\" and \"a format\" for safety education; it’s better to carry them out than not. The teachings on safety are meant for those who are destined to hear them! ! ! !
