Hello everyone, I would like to ask if there are any simple methods for testing the water content in silicone product D4
We’ve learned this in junior high school chemistry: insolubility is relative, while dissolution is absolute; there is nothing that is truly insoluble. Those who have worked with ultra-pure chemical reagents know that elements such as gold and silver can be detected in any chemical reagent. Water can also dissolve in oil, but the solubility is very low; usually we say it is insoluble. This is also why the original poster asked how to detect moisture in D4. In fact, industrial D4 does contain moisture. Along with water-insoluble organic solvents, industrial products generally contain several hundred ppm of moisture. I’m not sure if the cartridge reagent method can be used to measure D4 moisture; I’ll ask a colleague who used to work in analytical testing when I have time
