In the urea project, it was found that a large number of angle valves are used, including manual angle valves as well as automatically controlled ones. Self-controlled angle valves definitely have flow from the bottom in and out from the top, with the actuator installed vertically, unless special requirements apply. However, when installing manual angle valves, the valve stem is sometimes aligned with the direction of fluid flow and at other times it is not; to date, it is not clear what the specific rules are regarding the orientation of the valve stem during installation. Disadvantages: The medium impacts directly on the surface of the valve core, causing significant unbalanced forces on it. 2. Inlet on the side and outlet at the bottom, with flow in the “flow-in” direction: Advantages: The medium acts on the upper surface of the valve core, which helps to close it; thus, a smaller actuator is required compared to the “flow-out” configuration. Disadvantages: The valve core may oscillate when it is open to a small degree. Whether to use an inlet on the side and outlet at the bottom or vice versa is determined by the process requirements at the site. Unlike single-seat or sleeve control valves, whose flow direction can be changed by reversing the flow at the inlet and outlet, the flow direction of these valves is generally difficult to change. For GLOBE control valves of the sleeve type, there is a saying that for liquids, it is generally advisable to have high inlet and low outlet, while for gases, low inlet and high outlet is preferred. This is another principle based on the properties of the medium; it can be taken into consideration when choosing the flow direction of the valve, but it is not the primary factor. Many black water valves have fluid inlet on the side and outlet at the bottom, but for regular angle-type control valves, we recommend an inlet at the bottom and outlet on the side, as this provides a more stable flow pattern and is better suited for regulation.
