Due to several accidents that occurred during operation, the current efficiency is only around 91%. We plan to replace the membranes and convert our existing electrolyzers into zero-gap electrolyzers. I would like to ask the experts about the cost of converting these electrolyzers into zero-gap types (our electrolyzers have only 146 cells). Also, if we go with zero-gap electrolyzers, do we have to use specialized membranes? , , -
Regarding this issue, we have had discussions with Beihua Machinery. High-voltage dense electrolyzers can be modified into membrane electrode spacing electrolyzers by installing elastic cathodes, with the cost generally being around 15,000 yuan per unit. If forced to modify the electrolyzer, only the extruder will remain, and it will be necessary to raise the extruder. As for membrane electrode distance, it has little to do with the ion membrane of the electrolyzer; some use DuPont membrane 2030, Asahi Kasei 6801,...
A zero-gap electrolyzer is the term used by Japanese company Asahi Kasei; it is also known as NCZ. In China, the electrolyzer with zero polar distance for chemical machinery is called a membrane polar distance electrolyzer; it’s just a difference in naming. If your company needs to modify zero-gap electrolyzers, you can only contact Beihua Ji for the modifications; the specific cost is unknown. The ion exchange membrane to be used should still be the 6801 type. Additionally, the modification methods employed by Asahi Kasei and Beihua Ji differ somewhat – the modifications to the individual cells are generally similar, but Asahi Kasei makes some changes in other aspects, which it’s not convenient to detail here.
