How are those many English labels in front of the pump classified? The book states that different pumps have different codes; for example, corrosion-resistant pumps are denoted as “F”, while submersible pumps are marked as “FY”, etc. But I see that the letter codes on different models of similar pumps have no connection at all?

An experienced engineer in project installation once said that many manufacturers do not follow the standards strictly, but instead use their own specifications. The first reason is that a manufacturer may produce a corrosion-resistant pump, but it is not intended for use only in corrosion-resistant applications; it can also be used for other purposes, so there’s no need for it to be labeled as a corrosion-resistant pump. The second reason is to distinguish such pumps from those made by other manufacturers – if all pumps have the same model number, it won’t be clear that they are produced by our factory. (The statement may not be correct; it seems other reasons were mentioned as well, but I’ve forgotten them. For reference only.)
Even for the same type of pump, different manufacturers usually use different model numbers. The descriptions of model numbers in books are no longer applicable to the products produced by current pump manufacturers; this doesn’t have any practical significance
That’s right; nowadays, ordinary corrosion-resistant pump models are widely used, and the structure of pumps from different manufacturers is basically the same. If there’s no distinction based on the model number, it’s likely impossible to tell which manufacturer the pump belongs to.
Given the current situation, this is a common occurrence; it happens not only with pump models but also with valves and other components. Many manufacturers assign models based on their own products, and I believe the main reason for this is to distinguish their products from those of other manufacturers.

Most domestic manufacturers have this problem; their practices are far from standardized compared to imported products, and the differences are so significant – it’s sad and completely unuser-friendly. Those who say it has no impact are truly experts and gods
