Compressed power consumption

Does anyone know the relationship between a compressor’s air delivery volume and its power consumption? Thank you!
Taking the fixed-bed coal gasification process as an example, the power consumption of compressors in the ammonia synthesis system at various pressures: 15 MPa, 730 ± 10 degrees； 20MPA 765 plus or minus 10 degrees ； 26MPa 800 plus or minus 10 degrees ； 31.4 MPa, 863 degrees plus or minus 10 degrees.
Generally speaking, for a compressor with the same displacement, the higher the pressure in the outlet piping system, the greater the power consumption; whereas the displacement of the compressor is generally determined only by the inlet gas pressure and temperature, as well as the state of the inlet and outlet valves.
Shouldn’t there be a buffer device in front of the compressor?
