How should the support method for the pump body be chosen? What is the difference between central support and foot support? Which is good for high-temperature water (150 degrees)?
High-temperature media generally use a centerline mounting style, which facilitates the balancing of thermal expansion of the pump body.
Depending on the operating temperature, the thermal expansion of the pump body can affect its alignment; API610 specifies that foot supports can be used when the temperature is below 177 degrees. Since your medium is high-temperature water, foot supports are entirely suitable
Thank you so much! I feel a bit more relieved now. I just don’t know which type of support is more expensive – the foot support or the center-line support. Subjectively, I tend to prefer the center support, as these pumps are extremely important for the entire factory
The foot supports expand upward when heated; since the motor side remains at normal temperature, the center lines are not aligned, and this expansion also places additional stress on the pipe ends. In that case, centerline support would be better, and the requirements for leveling, etc., are not as high. To be more specific, at higher temperatures, technologies such as X/Y directional sliders or guiding pins are necessary; extra attention is required when the temperature exceeds 260 degrees.
8.2.1.2 Pumps for service temperatures below 150 °C (300 °F) may be foot-mounted. This is the exact wording from the original API610-2004 in English
Big Cat brother, the temperature specified in SH3140-2004 is 175, and it’s also 175 according to GB5656-2008. What standard does 177 refer to?
Reply 7# liangmaoqian API 610 Version 7,:L
175C actually comes from 350F, and 350F should correspond to 177C
I’ve never even seen the seventh edition; I only have the eighth and tenth editions here
Reply to 10# liangmaoqian: When I first started working at the design institute, only version 8 was available. Moreover, the pumps in version 8 were extremely expensive; most pumps still used those from version 7. Back then I saw a senior colleague compare version 7 and version 8 pumps, and that’s when I remembered the 177-degree value. It seems I’m out of date – I need to update my knowledge. :'(
